Gringo Academy is run by language-learning hobbyist and digital nomad Colin Strachan.
Colin quit his job in the U.K. and moved to Montreal, Quebec, in 2014 when he realised he knew enough French to get by in a French-speaking place. This life-changing experience taught him that everybody has the potential to live, work and make lifelong friends in a new place, even where English is not the first language. It also inspired him to learn Spanish in six months for a trip to Latin America.
Colin is an ACTDEC-qualified ESL teacher, but he does not proclaim to be an expert in languages or travel. The idea of Gringo Academy is to go beyond traditional language teaching methods and focus on the psychology of adapting to other languages and cultures. Travellers can use these techniques and mindsets to attain deeper, more profound and more culturally-rich travel experiences.
